Oops I’ve been bad. I need to get moving and get it finished.

I post my guy - he is done! He has dyspepsia, which gives him virulent flatulence. He owns a dog named Moonpie, and a donkey named Lulu. He tries to blame his dog and donkey for his uncontrollable gas. The animals have caught on to his tricks. :crossed:

IC thread is up. Only the elderly remain in the village.
Each PC should come up with a rumor they have heard that they believe is true that might lead to an adventure.

Rhyll is a level 1 fighter. He's available as an NPC to fill out the party if you wish.

Kwill is a 1st level thief. The currently unnamed others are normal non fighting men. They view the odds of starving with you as lower than staying here. Or they're bored and would like one last attempt at adventure before dieing.

Should others join us we can place them among the pool of Porter's who suddenly display greater skill/interest in leading roles.

I sorta like that Kissinger is possibly hard of hearing, or just senile enough to have a conversation with his own farts.

Should I know how far away the next town down the river is? And would I know a group I could delegate as messengers to the next town? This way I can act wise (WIS 16), eliminating obvious clues and help, and still move the game towards the 'Adventure in the Swamp'.

Yeah you think it's about 7 miles to the old Lindel farm Northeast of you and 9miles SW to Riverside. The Lindel farm was raided by reptilemen about ten years ago. Since then the road to it has become overgrown. You knew the Lindel family. Tough people. To the north of that farm are some low hills and beyond that the swamp.

Some of the old folks are going to head to Riverside anyway. You could send a message with them. One of them will return to the village to bring news.

Riverside is a significant settlement even if it isn't large. It's where farmers bring goods to trade downriver. Upriver is wilder. You recall hearing of human and dwarves settlements but you've never been to them.

Thanks! This probably spares a lot of analysis paralysis and routine busy work for both of us.

Message to Riverside: "Only the elderly left here -- and without provisions. Worried where the young ones went. Presumed kidnapped by the Snakies of the NE Swamp. Sending the last of our heroes there to save us. Send help! More Food and Fighters Needed!"

I'll also leave a similar message for the town, in case we have any visitors.

Delegated to Gruffyn, if I may:
I also want to leave a written log in town -- at the Main Gathering Place (town hall, mayor house analog) -- of 1) who went missing, 2) who was left, 3) who went where to find help at Riverside, and 4) who went to the swamp for answers. I want those who go to the swamp receive the appelation of 'Hero' next to their name. :hehe: If Endless Flight restarts he has something important for his PC to do which may come with its own complications. :shade:

Let's leave Gruffyn's exact whereabouts vague. If he wants to he where action is at then he can be sleeping in the cart. If he wants to be in town great.

Other than that sounds great.

How attached to standard dnd races and monsters are you?

Not dogmatically attached at all. Knock yourself out with creativity!

Ironic choice of words.

You know what Nuggals are. You've heard of them in rumors and comments from traders passing through. Nuggals are bipedal dog men. A sorcerers hybrid creation from several centuries back. Nuggals are what they seem a crossbreed of a reliable affectionate dog with a humanoid. They are not numerous but not entirely rare. Do to their heritage they have an abnormal affection for humans and human settlements especially the lower density villages and farms. Violence toward humans is not a trait they are known for.

Related you know that several centuries back among a certain subsection of wizards hybridization became very much in vogue. Many different races/monsters were created as these wizards competed for the prestige of who could create the most amazing creation. If legends are to be believed Nuggals were created by the same wizard who created the Fen, large wolfmen known for their ferocity and violence. It's said the Fen killed the mage who created them in an act of rebellion.

I have to remember to play up CHA 7... :shade: It's not as easy as it looks.

Yay, I'm playing Scooby Doo! It's our turn against those meddling kids! :gunslinger: I need Scooby Snacks. :shade:

I thought you could use some fighter types to help.

There, my party strategy and pep talk. I'm hoping that's just enough callous asshole to be believable!

i haven't forgot about this. i keep getting interrupted when i start trying to update.

Tact. :eat: My character has below average! (Fans images of monster nomming on Kwill's corpse...)

:hehe: Famous last words facing away from a sarcophagus... "any more threats?"

No obvious monsters. I've got Easter egg hunts to attend the today. Hopefully I can update later today.

What is your preference regarding advancement and treasure speed & volume? Since it's just us we might as well customize things for maximum enjoyment.

I joked in a SWN PbP on theRPGSite that we should set up an XP exchange program because I was perfectly fine roleplaying a 1 HP PC for my remaining time.

I also tried the old AD&D 2e DMG recommendation of at least 10 sessions before leveling up -- and liked it!

So I am very easy going about stuff like this. That said, not everyone can withstand glacial advancement rates. AND, Play-by-Post definitely lives and dies by momentum.

If you need to speed things up for yourself, or if a new player joins and they are itching to improve, please go ahead. As long as it's not "a level per session," I am good. In fact, feel free to divide adventure XP among the NPC allies. In that way, I could always hop into the next body as it were and keep the adventure going.

I don't actually have a strong preference either. It's just helpful to be on the same page. I allocated what seemed like a reasonable amount of treasure for a giant frog but looking at it divided up it's pretty meager xp. Ok so it more story than advancement for you which is great. I'm going to use the Xp value of an item other than coins is only for sold treasure ruling. I also am ok with the metagaming rule of unequal treasure allocation if you want to favor one players advancement over another. Not really an Issue with one player but an option to consider.
Oh and thanks for putting up with my slow pace.

Sorry. Busy week and sleepless child.

Spittingimage, you can attempt to stop my PC from doing something dangerous and stupid with the party. :hehe: Even so if it sounds like it will miss out on all sorts of badwrongfun! Who said talking isn't adventurous?:dice:

Stop you from doing something dangerous and stupid? Why would I do something like that?

I love our crazy party! :hehe: And who knew Gruffyn was a napping ninja? :alien:

I defer to spitting image for first riposte. :hehe: This should be a fun exchange as Kissinger feels at a loss, and is likely recovering from such banter & revelations.

It was all fun and games until someone raised the stakes with a goat. :hehe:

Old geezer CHA 7 is rapscallion fun! :clown: Good thing there's two of us to be naughty!
